Two men hunt in separate ancient landscapes, one near a rising brick structure and the other in a wild field with nomadic tents in the distance.

Hunters

Who is on this listThe BSB calls the person a hunter (Genesis 10:9; 25:27).

The two men the Bible calls hunters.

Genesis calls two men hunters. Nimrod "was a mighty hunter before the LORD," and it became a saying: "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD" (Genesis 10:9). His kingdom began in Babel and the land of Shinar (Genesis 10:10). Esau grew up to become "a skillful hunter, a man of the field," while Jacob stayed at home (Genesis 25:27). His game won Isaac’s favor, and his hunting set up the day he traded his birthright for stew (Genesis 25:28–34). Ishmael is called an archer (Genesis 21:20), not a hunter, so he is not on this list.
