Shimea, Father of Asaph

Shimea was a member of the tribe of Levi, the priestly tribe of Israel. According to the genealogical list provided in 1 Chronicles 6, he was a descendant of Gershom (or Gershon), one of the three sons of Levi. The text identifies Shimea as the son of Michael. His own son, Berechiah, continued the line that would eventually produce Asaph.
