Mareshah appears in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles 2, a section dedicated to the descendants of Judah. According to the text, he was the second son of Mesha, who was the firstborn of Caleb (the brother of Jerahmeel). This lineage identifies Mareshah as a direct descendant of Hezron and great-grandson of Perez, placing him within the high-ranking nobility of the Tribe of Judah during the era preceding the conquest of Canaan.
