Tentmakers

Who is on this listThe BSB calls the person a tentmaker or shows the person at that trade (Acts 18:3).

The three tentmakers of Corinth.

One verse gives this list its three names. When Paul reached Corinth he found Aquila, a Jew from Pontus, newly arrived from Italy with his wife Priscilla after Claudius had ordered the Jews to leave Rome (Acts 18:2). Paul "stayed and worked with them because they were tentmakers by trade, just as he was" (Acts 18:3).

The trade kept Paul while he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and it bound him to the couple who would travel with him to Ephesus and later host a church in their home. Scripture names no other tentmaker.
