Carpenters
Who is on this listThe BSB calls the person a carpenter (Matthew 13:55; Mark 6:3).
The carpenter of Nazareth and his son.
Two people in Scripture are called carpenters, and both come from one scene. When Jesus taught in the synagogue of His hometown, the people were astonished. Matthew records their question: "Isn’t this the carpenter’s son?" (Matthew 13:55). This names Joseph as a carpenter. Mark records it as "Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary" (Mark 6:3), which gives the trade to Jesus himself. Both Gospels say they took offense at Him. Scripture names no other carpenter.
