The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

A great multitude in heaven shouted 'Hallelujah' and attributed salvation, glory, and power to God because his judgments are true and just (Revelation 19:1-2). They stated that God had judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality and had avenged the blood of his servants. The smoke from her burning rose forever and ever, and the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down to worship God on his throne (Revelation 19:3-4). A voice from the throne commanded all servants of God and those who fear him to praise him.

The multitude, sounding like rushing waters and loud peals of thunder, announced that the Lord God Almighty reigns and that the marriage of the Lamb has come (Revelation 19:6-7). The text does not say how the marriage ceremony is performed or who the guests are, but it notes his bride has made herself ready. She was permitted to wear fine linen, bright and pure, which the text defines as the righteous acts of the saints (Revelation 19:8).

During these events, an angel commanded John to write that those invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb are blessed (Revelation 19:9). John fell at the feet of the angel to worship him, but the angel told him not to do so, identifying himself as a fellow servant with John and his brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. The angel instructed John to worship God, stating that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). The text does not say what the marriage supper tasted like or what specific words Jesus spoke to the bride.
